PRIMARY

Our Primary programme is built to develop your understanding of all subjects across the Primary National Curriculum (5-11 years). During your time you will be teaching with the guidance of mentors in at least two placement schools, develop your knowledge of both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, and your experience of Early Years, Special Needs, and English as an additional language. Our experienced facilitator team will help drive your passion for teaching during your core training sessions.

This innovative programme has evolved from our Olympic legacy pilot in 2012. In addition to the high-quality core ITT offer, Primary with PE trainees will complete a Level 5 qualification in Primary Physical Education Specialism and Subject Leadership in partnership with Sports Leaders and Association Physical Education. This six-day course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to deliver a differentiated and inclusive PE lesson and understand how PE can contribute to whole school improvement.

This innovative programme has evolved from our pilot Primary with Maths programme in 2015 working with the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) In addition to the high-quality core ITT offer, Primary with Maths trainees will have the opportunity to be part of Turning NW Maths Hub projects. These workshops will provide you with the knowledge and skills to develop as a Primary teacher with a Maths specialism.
